Alien Attack Self-Inflating Mylar Balloons
Good for the price
Purchased for a carnival game prize at a birthday party. I fully agree with previous reviewers in that it's very difficult to bust the interior packet. I think my husband resorted to a rubber mallet.
But once that's done, it gets really neat. First, you can hear the gas-conversion going on inside (if I had to guess, it's classic baking soda+vinegar). Then, the inflation -- which is just plain cool. And the longevity factor: we inflated one as a tester, and last I saw, it was still holding on after 3 weeks. The little holder stick works pretty well and holds the balloon upright fine.
My recommendation: good for party favors, but don't expect the kids to be able to DIY. Get a mallet, whack each one to get the fizzing started, then let the balloons do their thing for half an hour.

Would not inflate!
The whole purpose of these is of course that they self-inflate. Well, they don't. We tried at least 10 of them, and only 2 inflated at all, and not fully.

Shake it, Press it, it does not self inflate.
