Great Craft
I bought this craft for a group of 5th graders for a Valentine's party. They loved it! Even the boys were excited. I let them be creative as far as the construction of the alligator and they came up with the cutest alternatives as well as some of the students sticking to the original design. They spent nearly 30 minutes completing it. I would definitely buy this product again.

A Huge Hit!
This was my valentines gift to my 5th graders. It was expensive, but I didn't give out valentines. They loved it. It made a great surprise and they all turned out adorable, even for those students who don't usually have success! It began with the story, "Roses are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink" by Diane deGroat. I encouraged students to write comments on their valentines to other students, rather than just filling out the cards with their names. It was my attempt to put a fun educational spin on the Valentine's Day party. The focus became the "message" to each other rather than the loud junkfood party. It was a lot of fun for everyone.
I would buy them again in a heartbeat, but I can't afford them this year. I really hope they go on sale. $60 dollars is awfully steep for a teacher when she is the sole supporter of the home. With only $200 dollars allotted for classroom supplies, that is not enough to cover crayons, paper, and pencils, much less computer ink, whiteboard markers, etc.
If I get to buy them, the week before valentines day, three of the reading centers will be for valentines. 1) the writing center will be "the valentines" center. The kids will write their messages on their cards in private. 2) the students will research alligators & crocodiles and write a paragraph on what they have learned. 3) Write a special valentines poem to their mothers by Jack Prelutsky, "A box of Chocolate Hearts."
The day of the party, we would make the valentine boxes (as part of the party), then pass out our valentines cards, and finally open the cards to read the special messages.

A little tricky at first
Purchased for my daughter's 1st grade class. I thought the craft was going to be primarily peel & stick foam items. Nope - everything except the cardboard mailbox needed glued. It was a little tricky for me to get the nose and upright green eyes to stick. Once the glue dried on that part the rest went together easily. Very cute! A little smaller than I expected (I don't think any valentines would fit into the opening) but it's a fun activity.

Cute valentine holder
A very cute holder for kids, but probably best for older children if you are using in a class setting. Lots of little pieces to glue on. Would be okay for a younger child with one on one help.
