Compared
I was doing a project with my Sunday school class at church and found these to be the best value. After reading some of the reviews I was hesitant. I wound up getting geodes from two different sites. About half of the geodes were not crystallized, and they were small. The other site I ordered from, which was slightly more money, had better quality of he crystals. I understand you can't see inside the geodes prior to packing them and the kids still had fun but they enjoyed it more when the crystals were found.

Great price
These were fantastic as "rock" themed favors for my son's birthday. We also included the "rock" shaped bouncing balls and a magnifying glass.

Tiny geodes
I thought these were neat geodes to crack open during my son's party. They were a bit too small in my opinion, made it difficult to grasp and hammer it at the same time.

NOT TOO SHABBY
The geodes were on the small side which made them a challenge to keep in place while trying to break them.
Some were extremely difficult to break while others broke rather easily. Allow the adults were a little frustrated the kids had a great time and it went well with our lesson.

Very disappointed students
We cracked open each geode in the bag, in student groups of 4. It was so disappointing that only one or two had a bit of a crystal hollow ... not much. I understand that nature determines which are hollow and filled with crystals, but this was a big let down. I think Oriental Trading should send us another bag, complimentary. We teachers buy a lot from you.

Not what it should've been
I received my order faster than expected, sadly, that's the only good thing about it. I bought them for my Pre-k class. We broke them today, and only 2 out of the 12, actually had the crystals in them. It was very disappointing to not only me, but my students as well. Only 2 students got to take home crystals, the only 10 just got rocks. I know it can be a chance with them, but when almost all of them are only plain rocks, it was a waste of money.

Disappointing
Out of the 12 geodes in the bag, only a couple actually had pretty crystals in them. One stone was just clay. Most of the geodes were pebble size, with one the size of a golf ball. The instructions say to hit the stone with a hammer to break them open, which made the pebble size ones crumble into teeny tiny pieces. Smashing stones was fun, but overall, it was pretty disappointing because you really don't have anything to show for your efforts.

several weren't geodes and they were so small
I thought the kids would like these but several weren't even geodes and just broke into pieces of sandstone or whatever...the ones that were geodes weren't very impressive. The kids did not enjoy them. A couple were pretty inside.

very cool
Christmas present. They are very cool, but smaller than I thought they'd be. My kids loved them, though!
