Color Your Own Canvas Holiday Pot Holders
Great Christmas present for parents!
I purchased these to use at my daughter's classroom Christmas party. The students used fabric markers to color the pot holders and then the students wrapped their finished creation in tissue paper and then in a Candy cane gift bag (Oriental Trading) to wrap the gift for their parents. The kids did really well with this project and it was an inexpensive gift with that personal touch!

Great for my 6 year old!
My 6 year old granddaughter really enjoyed doing these. She had enough for all her aunts, mom, and grandmothers. She printed the name of recipient on the back, her name, and the year. Everyone was VERY IMPRESSED with the whole project. The outline printing left enough variety for coloring so that it didn't seem like a cookie-cutter project, and she didn't get bored doing all 12 hot pads. The only con I could see is that the puffy project makes it harder to color with fabric markers. You can feel it in your fingers after doing a few of them! Putting the finished hot pads all in the dryer was an easy way to heat-seal the color in.

The pot holders I received this year (2012) were VERY poor quality. I was very disappointed. I purchased these pot holders in 2011 for my first graders and they were wonderful. The ones I received this year had minimal filling and it did not go throughout the pot holder. These should not be called pot holders. They are basically fabric with a small piece of filler. I hope Oriental Trading goes back to the better quality pot holders because my kids really enjoyed coloring these for their parents.
