Compass Necklace Craft Kit
Not Child Friendly
I order this as a "find" on a treasure hunt for a group of boys K-6. While they loved finding them and thought the compass was neat, it was too difficult for ANY of them to put together by themselves. Very frustrating because they really wanted to have a compass necklace. Also the sticks that outline the border bleed color all over the users hands once they come in contact with glue.
Out of 21 children not one child was able to complete the craft as it was designed.
On the upside they did use the glue and materials to make their own compass creations.

None of the compasses work.
Compasses did not work and several of them fell apart in the packages. The shapes were bent, cut crooked and difficult to use. I was disappointed in the quality.

We used this project as an activity for my daughters egyptian themed birthday party. Just to be clear, the compasses are decorative, not functional. I bought 2 sets of these, and actually just opened all of them and put all the beads in one bowl, all the little sticks in another, etc, and let the kids choose their own beads instead of following the directions precisely. I also altered another step of the directions which would have us glue the blue laces to the back. Instead, I poked a small hole near the top and bottom of the large blue diamond. In the top hole I put the long lace that goes around the neck, let the kids put 4 or 5 beads on each side, tied a knot above the beads, then tied the ends together to make the necklace. The short blue lace went into the bottom hole, 4 or 5 beads on each side, then knotted below the beads. That seemed sturdier than gluing the laces to the back of the blue diamond. Overall, the kids really enjoyed making them, but this project did require an adut to supervise the group.

Does not work!
This product does not work. Compasses do not even swivel somewhat. Save your money.

So not worth it
This was a craft we used in a camp. Hardly any of the compasses even spun, and the woodes pieces ran when they came in contact with the glue. It was also very difficult to get the cording to stick to the foam, and we tried all sorts of glues. I think a hot glue would have been better, but I am not letting small children use one! Big dissapointment!
