”These puzzles are excellent quality. They are great in a language arts center. Not only can students practice the contraction, they can also see the contractions in use on the other side of the puzzle.”

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for ESOL I used these in my adult ESOL class and they were a favorite with the students. The first time I used them, small groups raced to complete the puzzles. Second time, groups completed the puzzles and then took turns reading the sentences. They have asked to use them again for additional practice! Some of the puzzle pieces have bubbles where the printed coating didn't adhere to the cardboard perfectly, but overall the quality is great for the price.

Questions & Answers

Is the sample card incorrect? Same puzzle fit? Will incorrect matches not link together to clue in the student?

I'm not sure what the thought of the creator was behind this, but the connection with "would not" would be "wouldn't", wouldn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the back of the card sample "You were not going to speak" has no connection with "Don't enter that building", unless you're talking with your students with how the different words and using a contraction or not has connotations of intensity of speech. In addition, the sample picture looks like all the pieces will fit together, even if they're incorrect, as long as I have a left and a right piece. Or can I just not see it in the picture?

All pieces will fit together as long as they are left and right pieces.
