DIY Domroo Drums
I bought these for an adult meditation class and they are wonderful! From the price, I was concerned that the drums might be too lightweight for what we were doing, but they turned out great. I ordered them early, because of the other reviews, stating some re-assembly required. I didn't have any problems ... all were assembled and functional. Just in case, I had a backup plan ... making some of them into shakers, with beans inside instead of using the beads on the outside for the noise. With one of each, the whole group made an excellent noise and had a great time!! Thanks so much!!

Sturdy drum part, but needs some pre-assembly...
We are using this for our VBS for preschoolers to decorate with markers. I'm glad that the actual drum surface is very sturdy, but you need to do some extra work during assembly. Some of the metal "stoppers" attached to the end of the strings fell off, so I needed to remove the metal piece and tie a knot in the string. Some of the holes are not placed at the same spot on each side where the strings and beads hang from, but most of them are done correctly. I only had one of the holding sticks come unglued and used some tacky glue to fix it. Overall, with a little added preparation work, I am very satisfied with the end product. I think the drums will hold up well for the kids and I'm sure the kids will love them.

Made a joyful noise!
We purchased these drums for VBS to celebrate the parting of the Red Sea by "making a joyful noise". All the children (between the ages of preschool through grade 6) had a blast painting their drums. Each one turned out different. My advice to all customers is to order early and be sure to inspect each drum once you receive your order. Out of the 5 dozen I ordered, unfortunately several drums were dented beyond use, but Customer Service (as always!) listened to my concerns and immediately sent replacements. Assembly of the jute/wooden balls took us about 3 minutes for each drum because we had to trim the jute to the right length (they were too long), so be sure to build in plenty of preparation time before your class begins painting! Thank you OT for offereing such great products at unbeatable prices!

Decent Hand Drum
The drums were easy for my elementary-age students to assemble and decorate. The quality of the cardboard drum is average but easily dented if not handled carefully.

I bought these for a cub scout craft, and the kids seemed to like them. They arrived in great condition, with all parts. Becasue of the rough cut of the beads, I had to stick a metal skewer through the hole to clear it so the string would go through. I assembled them before the meeting, so all that the boys had to do was decorate them. Shortly after the boys started to play them, some of the handles came unglued and fell out. It wasn't a disaster because boys are good at finding alternative uses for things, but I suggest using some super glue ahead of time.

Our kids were disappointed
We bought these for VBS. they look really cute and easy for kids to do but, the stings were too long and the beads didn't hit the drum, and the kids didn't even get to play with them because the sticks fell out the first time they tried to use them. All my kids went home disappointed.

Needs a crafty user
This requires a bit of planning a some assembly to make it easy for young users to paint, assemble and play. You will need to measure the string before knotting them to the drum so that the beads hit the drum face and not the sides of the drum. The beads wouldn't stay on and the sticks would fall out after a few minutes of play.

I was looking for a craft for my rhythm classes and thought these would be perfect. So far the kids have enjoyed them. I found that the string was a little too long so we just knotted them shorter and after reading reviews that sometimes the string would pop out, I went ahead and reinforced it with a knot. So after making those accomodations they worked out wonderfully.

We bought 3 dozen, about 10 of them were missing a string. We called and the company replaced them within like 2 days, which is much faster than we expected. The string and ball fly out of most of them so we glued them in from the inside and outside. Glad they are easy to get into. After securing the strings we had to glue them shut as well. With the modifications they suit our need and are functionable. I supose they are okay for the price but we do add time and material to them before decorating. I'm more pleased with the company for their friendlyness and willfullness to correct the problem than I am with the product.

Great for the Money
Easy craft for K-3rd graders. However we did tie the strings prior to giving to children to color so beads would not get lost. Only problem was 1 out of 144 a bead did not have a hole drilled.
