Great Quality
These fans were a great addition to all the Chinese New Year activies. The paper on the fans are thick. I have a class of two year olds and they put a lot of paint and they never ripped. I will definitely order these next year.

super favor
I got married in a field in on June 25, 2005. It was 103 degrees that day. In anticipation of the hot weather, I purchased several dozen of these fans for the guests. Because I am a teacher, I thought it would be cute to have the kids in my class decorate the fans. On the last few days of school I presented them for the kids to color if they chose. The kids loved them. (They each got a fan for helping me!) The kids loved their fans and brought them back for Fun in the Sun Day at school. My wedding guest were very thankful for the fans, and LOVED the children's decorations. I wrote our wedding date on the wooden frame for remembrance, so they were truly useful and fun keepsakes. And it was a lot cheaper than some of the other favors we could have purchased.

Versatile and Fun
Bought these for my 7 and 9 year old daughters. They love Barbie and the Three Muskateers where one of the girl muskateers uses her fan as her defense weapon. The fans were sturdy enough to last through many twirling, martial arts routines and fun enough to decorate and match their outfits!

recommend with reservations
Used for our high school musical. we needed fans we could decorate to match the costumes. They were very stiff at first, but loosened up with 'exercising'. They opened smoothly enough, but snapping them closed, as required by the choriographer, only 50% chance. We used them for the rehearsals but used another product for the actual shows. Wish there had been a fabric product instead of the paper ones. They did not stand up to the stage actions - such as being grabbed by another character. We found them difficult to decorate too.

CHEAPLY MADE
I bought this product before and they were much better made 8 years ago.. What I received today was junk! They were wrinkled, riped and hard to open and fold.. VERY dissappointed!

Okay quality for very good price
I regularly purchase these fans in sets to decorate for art shows I attend, and am usually satisfied with the quality provided. My latest batch of fans has been flimsier, the paper more a light lilac than white, and at least one package had brown spots all over the paper. However, the fan quality seems to shift slightly each year, so I'm holding out hope that next year's batch will be better.
The price certainly can't be beat. It is a case of you get what you pay for: sometimes the paper is sturdy, sometimes flimsy, and the sticks frequently require splinter removal when first opened, but they are great for painting on and can be tightened back up after painting with a rubber band around the closed fan.
I'm not too fond of the Oriental Trading name stamped on one side, but at least it's only on one side right now. Maybe that will change in the future too....

Best Price
I bought these for a theatre presentation...
Once we reenforced the paper and painted them they proved to be quite sturdy for the price... the only problem we had was that the plastic post that holded the bamboos together broke easily but we fixed them with heavy duty cord. I'd buy the again

blank canvas
my daughter loved this. So many options. Very good quality. Just beware it is hard to fold fan up after it is painted and dried. My daughter is decorating her wall with all the different fans.
