Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Prep for Sailing Our Youth group worked to put these boats together for our table decorations for a dinner. We glued everything together except for the sail parts and spray painted them white. I had the girls use permanent marker to decorate them including the sails. And assembled the rest. They worked pretty good, some parts were missing, but OT replaced them quickly. My recommendation is to look through your order to be sure that the kits are all there and complete. This will allow OT ample time to replace items if needed. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy to put together Kindergarten through 3rd grade made these to sail in rain gutters while 4th through 12th grade got to Kayak. The girls were very happy. May 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for older kids These turn out really cute. Due to limited craft time (20 min). I plan to use as a 2 day craft. Painting on day 1 and gluing together on day 2. They are quick and easy to put together with the insert pegs and a little wiggling. The only drawback was that the muslin sail tend to bleed into the fabric grain so letters tend to look a little blurry, and the cube tends to slide down the mast. I fixed this by putting a dab of glue on the mast, sliding the cube back over the glue and then putting a clothes pin below the cube to hold it in place until the glue dried. November 3, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by requires a little prep these are fun when they are finished being assembled and more for 10 and older kids. the parts need to be glued so consider drying time and the sail is wrinkled from packaging so maybe use wrinkle releaser before giving it to be decorated. otherwise we used paint and permanent markers to decorate and turned out really cute. ..... not good for floating in the water. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not usuable as is Bought numerous sets of these for our church's VBS this year. Saw the reviews mentioning minor issues with the product (holes needing to be drilled out, re-drilled, etc...). So, I was prepared to do some work. Worth it, I thought, to see the smiles on the kids' faces as they raced their finished boats. The whole thing ended up being a much more involved process than I anticipated. First, tossed out a fourth of my order due to split wood, or unusuable/unrepairable pieces. Second, the kits that did assemble well (according to the directions) tipped over as soon as they were placed in the water, due to too much weight on the mast. We were able to make things work, but the bottom line is: Be prepared to put a lot of elbow grease into doing a complete OVERHAUL of the design, if you actually want a boat that's water-worthy. This is the first time I've been sorely disappointed by OT. But I won't be buying this again. July 13, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Okay quality but too costly I bought these for Bible school. The pieces, as earlier comment suggest, don't fit as well as they should. Most of the sails had holes that were much too small and had to be cut to fit properly in place. Other pieces that don't fit well can easily be secured with glue, just be prepared to make those modifications. My main complaint with this item is that they are way overpriced. They are not worth the price that is asked for them. July 26, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Little Project I like that there are directions in each individually wrapped boat. I tried one and didn't have to even glue it together, other than the mast. I think this will be a great craft for my 1st - 6th graders next week! June 24, 2011
