Fluorescent Deluxe Rocks Science Kit
not much to it
I purchased this for my 10 yo son for a Christmas gift as he enjoys rocks and the study of them. The description suggested it for 14+ but I figured that with supervision he would be fine. When I received the package it said 8+ on the packaging which seemed more appropriate. My son enjoyed the rocks, but there was actually very little to do with them. (test for hardness and if they had florescent qualities) The florescent pen was cool and he enjoyed looking at some of his own rocks as well.

Interesting mineral and gemstone kit
This kit looked fun for science projects. It is a good purchase for the price. You get a few good specimens.

4 of the rocks do not look like the pics or other examples of what they are supposed to be. The "ruby" was black and green, NO red whatsoever.
Since the whole point of buying these kits is to have sure representations of the types of rocks, it seems important that the specimen actually LOOK like the pics or fit the written description.

Good tool to use in class

My children LOVE geology, so I was really excited to buy them this set of rocks for a science themed birthday party. I was a little bit disappointed, though, because not all of the rocks provided actually react to the UV light. There was one that was really cool. It glowed orange for some time after having the UV pen removed from it. Others didn't have any color at all. My kids are still really happy with the set, having added it now to their general "rock collection". I just feel that the other set (Amazing Rock Science Kit) did a better job of delivering on what it promised. If you're trying to choose between the two, I would go with that one over this.
