Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Faith Formation This is my 4th year making these with my 4th grade Faith Formation class. They really love making them. The large beads are good for "clumsy" little fingers. Both the boys and girls loved making them. A winning activity every year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I purchased these kits for my 4th grade Religious Education class. These kits were great for the month of the rosary. I had to purchase 2 packages as I have 13 students. I was glad I did because there were a couple kits that had a bad bead or missing one. The directions aren't the best, but I did somewhat of my own thing. The knotting is the worst part. My students had a hard time with that as you need to put the knots as close to the beads as possible. If I were to do this again, I would purchase small spacers to put in between the beads instead of a bunch of knots. All in all, these were great kits because everything you need is in one bag. Didn't have to worry about buying a bunch of beads/cords/crosses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this craft I have done this craft for several years with 1st - 3rd grade students. The holes in the beads have gotten bigger so there are less issues with being able to thread them. If you take a few minutes and tape the cord's end, it won't fray for them. I also purchase black seed beads and use one bead as a spacer instead of all the knots the instructions tell you to do. Most of the packets will be fine, however, I always make sure I have one extra packet so I can pull beads from that one if I have any issues.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible quality! I bought 3 sets of these rosary kits (36 total) for a Girl Scout meeting. A lot of the beads were broken, holes were painted over, some beads were missing in some kits, and the string was too thick to poke through them! It was frustrating for me and 26 little 2nd grade girls!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from cute but cheap So cute, but too many of the holes of the wooden beads were not big enough to put thread through. This was quite a hassle and disappointing. Please consider changing to plastic beads with equally symmetrical holes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Some flaws I love the colors and size of the beads. However, my first graders were frustrated with the string that kept fraying and whose knots did not stay secure and some of the beads that were not drilled thoroughly. It's not a project that you can do right out of the bag. You have to poke through some of the beads to make it possible for the string to go through. Also, I had to tape the ends of the string so it wouldn't fray. I'm using my own string next year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not possible to do unless you use (buy) flexible beading needles or get a different cord. I bought these to do with my 3rd grade CCD class. Unfortunately, I did not try one at home first. If I had, I would have realized that many of the holes in the beads had been painted over. We had to use scissors to carve out the paint out of the holes. We also had to keep cutting the frayed edge of the cord in order to get it into the too-small holes - ending up with a cord that was not long enough to complete the project. After the first try, I went to a craft store to buy flexible beading needles. After two CCD lessons, not a single student was able to finish. The project is a nice idea, but if I do it again next year, I will just buy my own supplies at a craft store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Purchase I thought the Rosaries and the cards looked great. However, students of all ages struggled to get the string through some of the beads because the hole wasn't big enough or the string started to fray. They did look really nice when they were done though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for young students! I used this with my second graders, and they loved the activity! The only problem was the drilling of the beads - many of them were difficult to feed the string through. I fixed them myself, which was a little time consuming, but the kids had a great time, and they are loving praying with them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from wonderful kit colorful beads with extra pieces in case the children lose one. The cord is a little short but if you don't put knots in between each decade, you have enough.

what are the beads made of? How long is the rosary from cross tip to top when string is straightened? Thanks.

Asked by: RevMk
The beads are made of wood. They are painted. The rosary is approximately 20". It's going to depend on where you place your knots. Some kids are able to tie knots, others are not. I substitute black seed beads for the knots and it's much easier for kids to complete.

Extra cord?

My kit came with one thick cord and four thin cords. Which do I use?
