Jumbo 3-Minute Classroom Sand Timer
I use this as a visual during clean up time for my preschool class. it's an incentive to beat the timer and makes clean up a little faster!

looks good but does NOT work!
The sand gets stuck and will not run through unless you keep shaking it. So you can't walk away from it which is very annoying when your timing your students and you want to walk around and observe your students working. It's cute but not reliable for what I bought it for.

We are doing a themed party at work for Halloween.
The theme is The Wizard of Oz and all participants were asked to provide props for their desk..yes I am the Wicked Witch and never knew just how difficult it was to find a sand timer! Other than the fact that I will paint the trim to be more realistic-Oriental Trading came through again!

I bought this to help my son when we do desk work at home. He needs the visual timer and this was good for short letter writing projects. The sand would get stuck sometimes and I would have to tap it to get it going again. But I liked the short time and he could see how much sand "time" he had left.

3-Minute Timer-yeah right!
The first timer I got the sand got blocked and wouldn't run through. OTC sent a replacement, that one was running well over 3 minutes so I couldn't use it either. So had to time the games by watching a clock. Waste of $7.99

More Like 3 1/2 Minute Timer
This timer is fairly good sized, but do not rely on exact timing. The time varies from 3 minutes 24 seconds to 3 minutes 46 seconds after being tested 5 times.
It is plastic, and not the best quality, but it serves its purpose.

sand get stuck
it's good, but the sand gets stuck. but a few taps will make the sand resume falling.

This timer was in my classroom for less than a week and was barely used. One of my little students turned it over today for her time-out and it cracked almost in half, even though she did not set it down hard.
I have two of these timers and neither one of them worked properly. The sand would get stuck in the top, so the time it took was highly inaccurate. Sometimes it would be stuck for more than a day before it was tapped to get started again.
The price was half of what other retailers are charging, which is why I purchased it here, but it's not worth the savings if it only lasts a week and doesn't work to begin with.

THe Classroom timer works very well for my preschool children. They are able to self regulate the amount of time they have on a project before they need to start finishing up before and moving on to the next assignment.
