Well, I had painted some sun catchers a few years ago without too much hassle, using glitter sun catcher paints. I thought the regular sun catcher paints would work pretty much the same. But they were much harder for me to control and the results were not as satisfactory. Plus one of the paint pens was defective and hence difficult to use. It also would have been better to have a greater range of colors, as it's hard to get flesh tones without brown and white. Maybe 2 of each color instead of 3 would make room for more colors.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PandaruExpress Great pens, don't buy in the winter!
A lot of the reviews are polarized on this and the other paint pens. Mine arrived, were well made, paint ran well and was liquid, and they dried nice and translucent. I suspect, based on their existing requirement not to ship by air, is that like other paint, they separate and are ruined when frozen. I'd suggest buying these only in the summer or warm months if you live in a cold climate.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Corey14 They smell terrible!
I purchased these as part of an activity for my sons birthday. We painted one sun catcher and had to put it outside due to the smell, it was awful. I ended up throwing them out as even with the tops on I could still smell the fumes.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Melshopz Strong Chemical Smell
These paint pens gave off a strong chemical odor right out of the box. Three weeks later, the odor was just as strong. The smell was overwhelming. Two people got headaches. We ended up throwing the pens away without using them.

The paint usually takes about 3 hours to dry, but worked great for my students' projects.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by EMLmom Strong Odor, but Easy to Use
I bought these to use for a craft at a 4-year-old's birthday party. I had a teenage 'helper' for the kids, trying to get them to not squeeze all the paint out at one time.
The paint does have a pretty strong odor, so if you're very sensitive to smells, you may want to avoid.
These were easy for the kids to use - some of the kids just had a tendency to squeeze way more paint than necessary. The older siblings who where there were much better at squeezing out the right amount of paint.
I think overall, these were much less messy to use than a paintbrush. Just make sure to supervise younger kids while using.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by OBXAunt14 Read for Opening Instructions!
These pens work great with the stained glass crafts sold by OT, but BE CAREFUL opening them! There are three caps on them: the outer cover, the pointed application cap, AND the inner plug, which MUST first be removed for the paint to flow. You have to unscrew the pointed cap to get to the plug, which should be removed facing away from you. Then you can screw the pointed cap back on and use. OT does not include these instructions with the pens, which, from reading previous reviews, has led to disastrous results!! Also, have toothpicks on hand to get the paint into the small sections and corners, and to swirl colors together.

Great project for a toddler birthday party! The squeeze pens make it neater and easier for little hands!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by vbsreviewer not as good as I hoped
Tried these pens for VBS. They are not very easy to squeeze and do not hold much. 2 packs was not enough for about 40 kids to share
