Perfect for parties or short term use I bought 7 to have for centerpieces on tables & just where needed. I did purchase a couple of extra because of the bad reviews on various colors. I have 2 pink, 2 green, 1 blue, purple and silver. They were all great. if you need to keep them from falling over or being moved use sticky tack or some other removable sticky mount to hold in place. Don't pull on the optic strands they will come out, if possible let set for a few days to give them time to spread out and the lights will get more colorful and bright after a few minutes of being turned on. GREAT for a dance party with neon or DJ lights. Also, elegant enough to be used for a nice dinner party with low lighting or under the stars. June 4, 2012

Trust the reviews. Trust the reviews. These lamps are poorly made. The fiber optics fell out, or were severly bent that it wouldn't stand up. Oriental Trading was very good of replacing the lamps in a timely manner. September 25, 2012

Tip Over the optical fibers would not fan out even after being pressed between books for a week. Since the fibers went in one direction they would cause the base to tip over. These were purchased as a table decorations but spent the whole time on their side. July 14, 2010

mini ufo lamp I have been happy with the mini UFO lamp, and my kids loved them. The price was reasonable and I'm happy it takes regular batteries. It was a hit at our party. June 4, 2009
