Lacing Mitten Stories Craft Kit
So who is KAYLA? I was expecting some kind of story lead-ins . . .But the package came with nothing .
As; so I looked again, and as I mentioned, I expected some kind of story lead-in's about KAYLA & her woods animal friends; but there was nothing in the package. Then I noticed the mitten is the shape of Michigan's LOWER PENINSULA . . . so I improvised, and made my own UPPER PENINSULA . . .
AND we used the animal shapes as stencils on heavier card stock paper!! Maybe you folks should do the same?!!

Fun and Cute but timely!
This is a great activity for first graders to practice lacing and sequencing skills. We used markers to color because crayons did not show up well on the mitten paper or the animals. The markers look great and the puppets are a GREAT way for students to practice their story retelling and sequencing skills. We also detailed the characters, setting, problem, and solution on the front of the mitten.

Great activity for Kdg
This product was used in my Kdg. class to support our unit on the book The Mitten. The quality is excellent. The animals are printed on tagboard. The majority of my class needed little assistance with the lacing. If the ends became too frayed, I just trimmed it off - there is plenty of string length. We divided the assembly over 3 days - lacing and decorating the mitten, coloring the animals, then assembling the sticks. We practiced reading the story multiple times during the week using the animal cutouts- it was great. Well worth the price - I'll buy another kit to save for next winter!
