Ratings & Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun, easy lab or art project I use this in my Astronomy/Meteorology unit for a high school science class. They turned out so well, the art teacher asked for a set next time I ordered! Fun and easy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best with few kids I tried these with 8 - five year old children (1 each) and we were done in basically 5 minutes. They designed their pages inside - taped at the top to a small dry erase board - then we took them in the sun. Two minutes in the sun and one minute in cold water, then done! We placed them on the drying rack to dry. There are 12 sheets - so if you had six or less kids it would be a longer experimental time because they could try different items or designs and the project would take longer. They did turn out as expected and darken as they dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from sun paper was great! The kids LOVED the sun sensitive paper. Quick, easy even for the littlest child. Just remember to have trays to carry it out to the sun and then to wash pictures with water after back inside. Does have an overnight dry time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New and great source of acience materials! As a kid in school I always enjoyed making "sun prints" of objects and learning the science behind why the process worked. Later my students had a similar experience when I taught Physics and Physical Science on the secondary level. However, I began to have considerable difficulty finding a good source of sun sensitive paper so I am thrilled to see Oriental Trading Company having it available at an amazingly low price! Keep up the great work people!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Cool - for All Ages! The item blurb says that this activity is good for preschoolers. I am an adult and thoroughly enjoyed making samples for my event. I think just about anyone that enjoys nature & art would enjoy making these prints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Use paper every year at Church School . KIds love to make blueprints of Nature objects that we find. Been doing these prints for a long time. This year someone's children heard of it and wanted to know where to get the paper. I ordered some for them. good project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sun-Sensitive Paper I purchased this paper to entertain my grand kids, and it did not disappoint me! They had fun and learned something about science at the same time. It is a real winner in my book.

Questions & Answers

Is the price for 1 unit (containing a dozen pieces of paper), or for a dozen units (144 pieces of paper)?

Asked by: rlshipp
The package contains 12 sheets.

Do they need to covered or protected after to keep from more sun exposure ?. (Can kids carry them home as is)

Asked by: Orderstuff
After sun exposure you should place them directly into cold water to develop for 1 minute - we did this in the shade and placed them upside down to prevent further exposure. They need to dry afterward so it may be difficult to transport on the same day. We placed them on a drying rack and then I matted them on white paper to send home the next day because they tend to wrinkle a bit when drying.

Will this work for party favors?

I’m looking for favors my my son’s science themed birthday party, and I want to know if this can be divided up and sent home with guests. I don’t mind purchasing other materials to include with this to make it work (the description mentioned cardboard), I’m just wanting to know if giving this as favors is feasible. What else would I need to include with this for it to work after they’re sent home with our guests? Is it self-explanatory, or should I include directions in the gift bags?
Asked by: Kwteach
That is a fun idea! They are sun-sensitive so you will want to send each home in light proof black bags or perhaps in between cardboard, and place the directions and maybe some print item ideas (leaves, buttons, etc.) on the outside. Good luck!
