What a hit!
These swords were quite the hit when the pirate kids went on a treasure hunt at the beach and dug them up (they were wrapped in brown material that looked like leather). The appearance is pretty rustic, which was fabulous, but unfortunately, one was already cracked in half when I opened the box upon arrival (which meant I had to then buy an extra sword from a store to supplement the party favors!). 1 more broke during the party.

Okay for decorations
These look nice, but the plastic swords are so flimsy that almost all of them snapped the minute we tried to play with them. The eyepatches were uncomfortable and the skull and crossbone design was stamped upside down.* I'd strongly recommend going with different pirate swords and getting fabric eyepatches separately if you intend to use these for anything other than decorations.
*We ordered in 2011, they may have corrected the upside down thing since then.

This was the best!
This was a great deal for the two combined. I was a bit worried the sword would be flimsy and not sword like, but it was sturdy as was the pirate patch! A definite must for any kids pirate party!

Quality Toy
I just received these swords today for my son's 5th Birthday Pirate Party. Very impressed with the quality. They aren't flimsy and the boys have played with them very roughly. The eye patches are a cute extra too.

Kid's Party
Order these far in advance. The swords were great. The eyepatches had the Jolly Roger stamped on upside down. I read similar reviews but I did not have enough time to exchange them.

Defective
Do not order these until they fix the eye patch -- the skull & crossbones image is printed upside down on the eye patches. When I read this on the reviews, I ASSUMED that they had fixed the problem. NOPE! They are still sending defective eye patches. The swords are great, but the patches look dumb.

Very cool looking!
The kids loved them, and they are very neat looking. They are not meant for rough fighting.

Great purchase!
Bought these for a Treasure Hunt party theme. Swords were life-like and more sturdy than what I would expect for the price. Kids loved them! Definitely recommend.
