Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Maranda109 Kids really enjoyed these
I used these in VBS the kids really enjoyed them, they took the right amount of time, instructions were very easy for the kids when you have 25 per class, grades 1st-6th its the perfect craft for learning, and for all grades. The only thing that I recommend is large sticky dots to help hold everything on.

This was a nice kit. But it said it was for kindergarten and up and we found that really only 3rd graders could do it on their own. Most of the younger kids had serious problems lacing the journal together.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MJMouw The kids really loved making these.
My Sunday School kids really enjoyed making these journals. I would recommend that you make one before having the kids make theirs. The paper quality is a little thin, especially since kids will be writing on the pages.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ghostwriterfm Cute project!
This craft produces a very cute journal. I recommend it for older children, as the pieces are small and the "sewing" of the cover and the pages could be frustrating to the younger kids. Dip the end of the thread in fingernail polish or use a piece of scotch tape on the tip beforehand. I'm using it as a church camp project for the middle school kids-I know they'll like the cool pieces for decorating the cross. We're using a stick from nature as a backbone to the journal, by lacing around it, also, as as we go through the holes! Nice effect!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by iowaporter Preassembly may be required.
We used this product for a Mission Bible Club in Peru. We wanted our craft time to be limited to 30 minutes. This project requires up to an hour. We ended up pre-assembling part of the project for 80 kits. The team leaders strung the binding ahead of time. Then, the children only needed to glue on the decorations. Stringing the binding would be fun for older children, but we just didn't have time for it.

Got these for VBS. I pre-strung the ones for the smaller kids, and I didn't have the problems some others reported. I could do a dozen in an hour, easily. Just wrap the ends of the string with some scotch tape to make an aglet, and they thread really easily. Used a toothpick to punch through some of the places where the holes weren't completely perfect. Printed labels for the little kids with the verses on them, had the bigger ones write them for themselves. Great for the price!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by GreekSuperMom Great Kit
I agree with Reggi's review. Great kit but hard to thread. Wish I had thought of the clear nail polish idea. We slightly melted the end of the string with a lighter to make it easier. Tried it out with my 4 & 5 grade Sunday school class. Plan on using it at church summer camp. Took 2 classes for that age to complete the project. Very nice when completed.
