Over the years I have bought many types of sun catchers from Oriental Trading to use in craft programs. The best way to color them is to use colored Sharpies and let dry for a few minutes. Snow Globes were really cute and children had fun coloring the snow scenes.

These were cute, and easy to use (even my 2 year old was able to make one and it turned out cute). BUT the big problem is paint. I think they sell paint pens here at oriental trading, but a pack of paint pens wouldn't go very far when a class of 25 kids are doing the project all at the same time. So we tried MANY other kinds of paint/markers. The only thing that worked (without peeling up) was acrylic paints. I gave students in groups of 5 a paper plate 'pallette' with a squirt of the paint in various colors, and had them use q-tips to paint the suncatcher. It worked out well.
