EXCELLENT PROJECT This was an excellent project for 3rd grade. They all loved making these and were very enthusiastic. It does take some time to complete - would need 30-45 minutes and fine motor skills are essential. Looks easier then it is which is why I liked it the most. Some of the holes need to be made wider - pencils punched through are perfect for this. The string ends can fray making it harder to string - but a little tape on the ends to make an aglet solved that dilemma and helped increase vocabulary with the word aglet :) This project really helps the children THINK. They have to problem solve for small snafus, be creative in designing, use fine motor skills, and be patient. GREAT craft and I was so glad I bought them! Will definitely use this again. December 8, 2009

do not recommend This activity took to much prep. The holes on the covers are too small and dont line up to the paper inserts. The string is hard to thread. Not for first graders. November 24, 2009
