Fantastic!
These placemats are so cute! The kids actually thought they were real pirate treasure maps! I got them laminated for each child to take home from my son's party! I would definetly recommend them as an addition to your party! Kids love them!

Awesome Treasure Hunt Maps!
My daughter just turned 4 by the "sea shore" and we hosted a Magical Mermaid party where kindly pirates were welcome. Most of her cousins and friends are boys so we are always finding ways to make sure the boys aren't overwhelmed with the girly aspects of the party, and this map was the perfect transition from Mermaid to Pirate! There is a mermaid on the place mat, as well. It has an aged look to it, and is rather thin, but that made it easier to roll up and tie off with a ribbon (or twine for a boy party). My daughter and all her boy cousins and friends loved it. I painted paper towel rolls and let them embellish them with jewels and also bought a bunch of "as-is" cardboard treasure boxes from Oriental trading as well. The party was a hit, and the kids loved their treasure maps. Try posting one on the wall and writing the party itinerary on it as well to give parents an idea of how the party will flow. I didn't do this, but wished I had. Keep in mind, since the kids loved them so much, a couple of them tore from handling, but they are meant to be placemats, not treasure maps.

Worked well for our SaFaRI theme!
The "MAPS" were great! Added a 2x4 sticker with our club logo and info to go with our SaFaRI theme. Rolled them up & tied them with twine. Even though they are more for "Pirtates" they still worked GREAT for the kids to make a SaFaRI map!

Would Purchase This Item Again
I too laminted these and gave these out at my son's pirate party yesterday. The title of the item is place mat so they are thin like you would have in a kid friendly restaurant. They were a huge hit as the kids would pretend to find the hidden treasure. I also took one to the bakery when I ordered the cake. They made a very colorful version of this on a sheet cake.

Token Economy Board
I purchased these and laminated them to use as permanent token economy boards in my classroom. I created the tokens by laminating pirate stickers but you could just as easily just velcro pirate coins to it.
My kids LOVE these maps - they are so motivated by being able to put their pirate on their map and work their way to the treasure!
They look antique-y like the picture and are not super cartoony but the details in the maps do not go unnoticed! When I introduced the maps and we were simply using them for imaginitive play, my kids loved pretending to crawl through the cave to get to the magical mermaid or rowing the boat really fast to avoid the octopus! If I do a pirate themed token economy next year, you can bet I will be using these!
