Not for anything heavier than a feather!
We purchased enough of these for about 50 students to use to carry 2 composition notebooks, a 2 pocket folder, a pencil pouch, and a small laptop (less than 1/2lb) from class to class - rooms that are 10 and maybe 30 ft away from one another. Within an hour, had 5-10 that had broken straps. Within 3 days, maybe 10 that ripped down the sides. Within a week, a quarter that had either broken straps, rips or both. Within the 2 weeks, a third of them, are now broken. Admittedly, a few students were not the nicest to their bags, but the majority were using them properly and not carrying ridiculous items and carrying ONLY exactly what they are supposed to and from their classes. For almost half of these bags to fall apart in a week/2 weeks of purchase is absolutely ridiculous! The fabric is not outrageous. I have had this material in tote bags before and carry far more in them than what we have the students carrying, but for them to fall apart like this - some in an hour.....

Most Envied Purchase
My class of one dozen children from ages 2 years to 11 enjoyed the bright, neon colored, durable tote bags. The adult participants had plain colored plastic bags which were relatively small. Our bags were the envy of the conference.
