Sorry these will not work for me.
It would be very difficult for children to put these together. I was contemplating using them for our vbs program. I bought little hammers so they'd have more control but it's hard to line up the predrilled holes. I put one together myself and i had trouble. You can split the wood easily. For the price it might be worth it but it might work better with the wood clue but i don't have time for them to dry. The part that holds the seed is very small and you'd be filling it more than once a day.

Don’t forget the glue!
This project worked wonderfully for my Girl Scouts’ Woodworking badge. We did have an issue with one of the set having quality issues, but I will follow up with oriental trading to make it right. You will definitely need glue to help keep the project secure!

Satisfied with product for its purpose
Very easy to put together. The wood is very thin/soft so be careful putting it together. The feeder is small, about an inch wide, 3 in long. Tiny but easy to assemble and great for a child's first build project.
