For $2 a bag these are a great deal. I bought Walmart brand permanent pens and they worked great for coloring the canvas bag. They are great quality. The canvas bag and drawstrings will hold up over time. These were perfect for my daughters mermaid birthday party. Highly recommend these.

BEST ANSWER: Markers work well and depending on the marker if the color will stay when wet. Oriental trading also sells different kinds of fabric markers too. I have not tired paint, I'm sure it would work fine
