Cute, but not easy to make and takes a lot of time to dry.
While this is a very cute craft when it is finished, it is very time consuming. Not for young kids. Also the only self adhesive part is the cross that sticks on the front. The rest needs to be glued. It takes the stained glass part a few hours to dry and then you can assemble the rest and it takes another few hours to dry. Can not be completed during a 1-2 hour class time. I will not be able to purchase this one again.

Not messy with glue stick!
Perfect craft! I used an Elmers glue stick for all parts of this craft and utilized the plastic bag it came in to line the back side of the window so it's not sticky and tissue paper isn't exposed. Easy and mess free👍

good project
Used glue sticks for most of craft. Worked well. I pre-stapled the ribbon to the black foam ahead of time. I did have a station where kids could paint dab the glue/water mix to the back to keep the tissue on. But I did not do that to the example and it help up fine. Used with a group of 25 K-2nd grade. Had 5 adult helpers, needed it for the the younger kids. Lots of clean up- little tissues everywhere.

Very pretty!
Got these for a Kindergarten He is Risen party and it was a beautiful and fun craft! We used a hole punch to create the circle at the top for the red satin rope and a parent pre-tied them. I found it worked best if you poured Elmer's glue in a bowl and diluted it by about 30%. Also, using a wider paint brush such as a 3" one made it work faster...just give the plastic piece a nice layer and the kids can stick the tissue paper to it. I also separated the tissue paper squares in advance so the kids would be sure to use a variety of colors and stick them one at a time. (You'll receive a lot more than needed, so don't feel you need to separate all of them.) After the kids were done, parents helped with the 2nd/final coverage of glue mixture...again with the wider paint brush to get a complete, but not too thick layer of glue. Then, they were left to dry overnight. A parents then trimmed any tissue paper hanging over the edge, and used a thin run of Elmer's blue to (1) paste the 'stained glass' to the one side and (2) past the 2 sides of the black border together. We also used a silver Sharper on the back to write the child's name along with the year and caption of "He is Risen!" Sticking the cross was very easy. It was more work than we planned, but very beautiful! We picked this craft because we thought it would be one that the parents would keep for the future to hang someone in the home! I am glad we picked this one!

Can I use a glue stick for this?
| May 30th, 2022
  • BEST ANSWER: I am answering my own question here, as I just completed one entirely with an Elmers washable disappearing purple glue stick and it worked great! No mess except for some sticky/tacky fingers. I also used the bag it came in (cut to fit frame) to line the opposite side of the craft so that there is no glue or tissue paper exposed. Perfect!
Can you leave the cross off and add a crown for a kings/queens classroom domain?

  • BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can leave the cross off but you would have to purchase your own crown to use.
