Sturdy and non-porous!
These boxes are a thick paper mache with a non-porous What I like: Because they are not porous so they are easy to color. Sharpie doesn't bleed when used directly on them (no coating of paint needed). They are thicker than some balsom boxes. For the price there lots of fun shapes. I don't have to sandpaper them like I do with the little cheap wood boxes.

Great deal.
The boxes came in a timely fashion and were a great deal for the price. The construction of some the boxes made them unusable and a few of them needed to be sanded down which led to the boxes coming apart. They were fixable however. The lids do fit snugly when unfinished so after either painting or decoupage has been applied, the lids either don’t fit or have to be manipulated to fit. They were a good buy but I do not think I would purchase them again in the future based on my needs and what I utilize them for.

So Many Uses!
These boxes are perfect for so many uses. Sturdy enough to hold up under intense gluing by preschoolers!

We turned these boxes into Chinese rattles.
We turned these boxes into Chinese rattles at our Chinese Adventure themed sleepover for girls ages preschool through junior high. The junior high girls helped the younger ones with a few of the details. We also used some self-adhesive Chinese New Year stickers to decorate the rattles. We had pre-drilled the holes for the stick and the beads attached to strings.
