Ratings & Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Project, Could Use Better Directions We purchased these for summer classes. The kit is very nice, and there is sufficient para-cord to make the bracelets. The completed bracelet fits even an adult wrist, so there were no worries there. Our only complaint is that the directions did not include instructions on how to finish the ends once the second half of the buckle is attached. It says to knot the ends securely, but a picture would be helpful so as not to end up with a lumpy knot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Instruction hard to understand The instructions need to be better. I ended up watching a you tube video to figure out how to make the bracelet

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Instructions were not clear. Used as a craft for a high school VBS class. Students complained that instructions were not clear.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Many parts jumbled To many missing parts even with extra parts supplied still had b parts missing. Some bags had 2 clasps and no compass and really compasses were reason for buying as they were symbols for completing hike

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great craft for cub scouts, but plan ahead to determine better instructions We used these for a Cub Scout Pack family camp this past weekend. The items were great and all of the kids loved them. The trickiest part for me, as the event planner was to create a better set of instructions. Based on other reviews I knew they were problematic. While the directions can be followed by someone who has done other paracord projects, I knew 95% of our scouting families had never seen anything like this. Plan ahead, get it early, try a few things out and create a better set of instructions to print out. The kits are really fun for the kids when they can be successful! (FYI- using a soldering iron or hot knife to melt ends together will result in a much better finish than other methods. (I've attached images of a paracord compass bracelet my son made using different colors of paracord than what is in the kit. The colors show the weave and end finish we used better than the camouflage colors did. The buckle on the blue and yellow bracelet is also different than what is in the kit. The buckle is one of the paracord bracelet buckles sold separately. They are a bit smaller as you can see in the comparison picture and worked best for some of our smaller campers. All supplies pictured were bought here on Oriental Trading and worked great for our Pack's family camp craft time! )

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible I bought these for summer camp and they do not work! The directions are so vague. It is impossible to put together. The supplies listed are not what you get. So upset I wasted money on these. Buyer beware you will be greatly disappointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Most of the compasses don't work My Girl Scout troop made these to sell at a craft fair, trying to raise money for a trip. People are not going to buy something that doesn't work. 9 of the compasses don't work

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 50/50 on the good/bad meter I bought these for a cub scout activity to illustrate knots and compasses. The instructions were vague and confusing. It easily frustrated most of my boys. Those who got it helped the others which turned a bad into a good. The compasses were for show mostly but when done, the boys liked the bracelets.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Would be 5 stars with small improvements I bought this for a cub scout project. There are three BIG shortcomings. (1) Contents are not accurately depicted. (2) one long piece of paracord should have been included, not two and, as others have mentioned, (3) the directions are AWFUL. CONTENTS: The contents are not listed accurately. The description says, "Includes three 41" nylon paracords". The picture shows two cords two cords are actually included. The lengths are 30" and 62". As for quality, one of the clasps did not hold, but an extra was included. The compasses don't work well, but I did not expect much. PARACORD LENGTHS: Every set of directions on making these I've found uses ONE length of cord. Not only are two lengths unnecessary, it makes finishing very messy. No reason to have four cut ends instead of two. There is NO benefit for two lengths. DIRECTIONS: They are awful. They show you how to tie the knots in the middle. Not how to start OR finish. Really awful. I've been so pleased with other purchases. This was a real let down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loved the producted. However. Loved my finished product. But I had to go to the internet to find instructions on how to make them into the finished project. The instructions where less than satisfactory on how to finish the project and make it look anything like the picture. It did show how to tie a a good square not, but thats about all.

Questions & Answers

Does the compass really work or is it fixed?

Asked by: VBS2015
It's really a novelty. I think 1 in 10 of our compases out of 60 worked pretty well. Some would point to a random North and some took some tapping to work. I'd look at it as a novelty and wouldn't count on that compass to get you out of the woods if you're lost.

how many bracelets with compasses does this kit include?

At one place it seems to have one compass, but at another point it says it makes 12.
Asked by: Bangshift8
Each bundle has twelve paracord bracelet kits. Each has a set of instructions and the materials you need to create one bracelet.

Clarification

The product details say "three 41" nylon paracords" and the picture shows a camo cord and a solid green cord. From what I've read you need about ten feet of cord to make a bracelet, less for a child. What exactly is included in each of the twelve kits? I'm hoping there is one long piece of cord for each kit but the description doesn't sound like that. I know how to make the bracelets if there is one long piece of cord but not if it is in three pieces and it sounds like the directions are non-existent. Thank you!!!!
Asked by: janmt
There are two pieces of paracord. One a solid green and one camouflage. My group didn't use the included instructions and melted the ends of the two cords together to create one cord we wove into the paracord bracelet. You'll have enough cord for an adult or a child whether you use the included instructions or modify them to use your own process. The camouflage cord is 62" the solid green cord is 31" (picture of one kits contents attached.)
