Horrible experience for us! After coming home from working with the 32 kids, struggling with the pots and grand disappointment, I came on to Oriental Trading to contact customer service. I found out that we were doing it wrong. That said, it was because of the product! The pots were separated from the inserts and there were no instructions included. So it was assumed that they were to be filled in the clear portion of the pot and the white would magically settle in...obviously not the case. We had them try to put in less, shake them, twist them..some cracked just getting the insert back in. Needless to say the sand was mixed and not attractive and only at the bottom. There was only one SMALL funnel for each dozen purchased too. $50+ and the cost of the sand ALL wasted! We turned them over but didn't realize there was a small stopper you can open to pour sand into! So be warned that: 1) you must make sure the 2 pieces are together well (or you'll have a BIG mess), 2) you remember the instructions and/or to tell the people who will be using them the instructions, 3) know that only one small funnel is enclosed. So we are very disappointed. It was a lot of money and I'm sure most of the families will just toss out the pots : ( Now I am frustrated because it took 10 tries to post the review!! Seriously nickname issues??? Letters, no spaces, taken, etc. Quality with the company is sketchy with a lot of my purchases. I have found things cheaper and better quality. So I'm finding more and more that I tend to look elsewhere lately.

Not the best class craft
Bought this to do with a 2nd grade class. I didn’t realize that the sand was sold separately (my fault). for the price point, it should have been included. There was only one tiny funnel per 12 flower pots so the craft takes forever. Kind of difficult for a group of 8 year olds to do on their own. Would be cute as a 1:1 activity. Also, you fill it from a tiny hole on the bottom . if you don’t fill it completely, once they flip it back over the sand mixes together and looks blah

Difficult for children to do. Where the hole is place and the tiny funnel that comes with the kit doesn’t really let you get to creative with the sand art. Overall, we got the job done.

Unexpected hit!
I bought these as a supplement for an art camp. Oh my gosh, these were such a hit. Everyone enjoyed them but the boys in camp were really into it. I kept hearing them say “this is so fun”. Definitely going to plan this activity again with this being the main draw.

Easy to order, arrived early
I bought the flower pot sand art and sand. Along with felt flowers. Everything is wonderful, the pots are a great size and the color of the sand is the same as was pictured. I only needed 6 pots but could not find anything as nice as these were for the price. So I have extra for a rainy day. I have not used the felt flowers as of yet but I am very happy because they are larger than I expected.

Good concept but need to have instructions for each vase. Also need a funnel for each. Giving them to a class of kids to take home doesn't tell them how to fill. If you fill from the bottom it shouldn't come apart.

I ordered item #IN-13640105 and no where in the description does it mention that colored sand is not included. It says "Layer these plastic flowerpots for kids with bright sand using the included funnel through a hole at the bottom of the plastic pot." That led me to believe that sand would be included. If it's too expensive for me to buy the sand can I return this product? Who pays the shipping? Thank you, Nicole

So just to verify, I am planning to get 2 dozens of these planters. So to fill all 24 fully with sand' am I really going to need 5 sets of the 12 coloured sand sets that you guys offer? (Considering each case takes 60 ounces to fill)

If you’re looking for exciting indoor crafts and activities to do with your kids, sand art is so much fun. I know my kids can’t get enough sand art projects, and I love seeing them work so hard to make something beautiful. My 5 year old daughter made the rainbow sand art planter all by herself, and she was very proud of how well she poured the colorful sand. We definitely made a mess, but it was really easy to clean up.
