Your mission: create a Lunar Lander that would let astronauts land safely on the moon, then hold up to a thorough moon exploration adventure. Are your students up to the challenge? This STEAM activity has students working together in groups of 2-4 to engineer and build their Landers. Use the included discussion questions to facilitate relevant conversations about the surfaces of different planets, shock absorption and more. Post-production, you can give students the chance to reflect on their project and brainstorm improvements they could make. However you use it, students will be over the moon for this fun STEM craft! Includes paper plates, paper cups, paper sheets, wooden craft sticks, satin cording and latex balloons. Instruction card, 8 1/2" x 11". Scissors, glue and tape needed, sold separately. Makes 12.
