This STEAM kit allows students to construct Newton discs and explore the way the human eye perceives colors and patterns. Along with practicing problem solving and cooperation during the experiment, the included teacher resource guide has discussion questions to give students a chance to analyze the results. Includes cardstock pieces, baker's twine and cardstock teacher resource guide. Spinners, 4 1/2" diam.; resource guide 8 1/2" x 11". diam. Makes 12. Kit includes instructions. Craft requires crayons, markers or colored pencils (sold separately on this site). © OTC

Very Poor Quality, Not Worth the Purchase
I was extremely disappointed with the Newtonian Disk Spinner. The product was cheaply made with thin, flimsy paper instead of the durable cardboard one would expect for a science learning tool. Within minutes of gentle handling, you realize that the disk is too light ,unsuitable for classroom or even casual use. Additionally, the string provided was stiff, inflexible, and made it nearly impossible to achieve a smooth spin. The entire point of this tool is to demonstrate color blending.

DON'T BUY IT
I have made this type of spinner before with previous second graders and they loved it. These do not work for several reasons. The disc is too thin, it is basic thin cardstock. It needs to be a heavier cardboard in order for it to work. The string that is provided is super stiff preventing it from twisting up in order to allow the disc to spin. It is presented as a Science experiment with little to no explanation behind the science.
