WOW...great price
We used this at one of our scout events and the boys had a blast with them. (7-8 year olds). Hard to beat the price...under $.60 per scout!!! Obviously, it isn't something they will play with for weeks or months...but it served its purpose and they sure enjoyed the time spent making them.

Fun project
We used this project as an activity for my daughters egyptian themed birthday party. Just to be clear, the compasses are decorative, not functional. I bought 2 sets of these, and actually just opened all of them and put all the beads in one bowl, all the little sticks in another, etc, and let the kids choose their own beads instead of following the directions precisely. I also altered another step of the directions which would have us glue the blue laces to the back. Instead, I poked a small hole near the top and bottom of the large blue diamond. In the top hole I put the long lace that goes around the neck, let the kids put 4 or 5 beads on each side, tied a knot above the beads, then tied the ends together to make the necklace. The short blue lace went into the bottom hole, 4 or 5 beads on each side, then knotted below the beads. That seemed sturdier than gluing the laces to the back of the blue diamond. Overall, the kids really enjoyed making them, but this project did require an adut to supervise the group.

Does not work!
This product does not work. Compasses do not even swivel somewhat. Save your money.

So not worth it
This was a craft we used in a camp. Hardly any of the compasses even spun, and the woodes pieces ran when they came in contact with the glue. It was also very difficult to get the cording to stick to the foam, and we tried all sorts of glues. I think a hot glue would have been better, but I am not letting small children use one! Big dissapointment!

Compass Craft
The only issues I really had was that a glue gun was needed and that the pieces were shoved into little bags and were bent. So when trying to add the wooden pcs, it was difficult. It looked as if the instructions were the basic problem for the bending of the foam and also the bag that held the smaller bags was too small. Foam is flexible but needs care when shipping. Other wise easy to make and very cute.

Was hoping for better.
I was a little disappointed. Many of the yellow diamonds were full of ink and wrinkled and torn. A lot of the sticks were also broken. I knew the compasses were only "for show", but some were so scratched, you could not even see through them.

great project
This is a great project for your den meetings. It can be used with some requirements and the boys really enjoyed making and wearing thm. They are easy enough for even the tigers to make.
