Great project for 7 year old!
This was a great project for my 7-year-old and I to make as gifts. The finished product looks very nice. We used Mod Podge that had sparkles in it. This made for a very nice effect--I wouldn't do without it! The mitten cuffs were white and not gray as pictured, but that didn't really matter. Once you punch out the mitten "outlines" you are left with a bunch of mitten shaped foam pieces you can use for future craft projects.

Project takes time...
I bought this project for my Girl Scout Daisy troop. Luckily, I opened a package to check the directons thoroughly. You need to mix up glue and water and apply it with a brush... then put on the tissue paper and let it dry... and THEN glue the foam mitten part on and let it dry.
I'm sure they would turn out super-cute, but we only have an hour-long meeting, and I don't want to mess with glue/water and sticky brushes in a school cafeteria, with 10 giggly 1st graders! :-)

FUN
The kids had alot of fun doing this craft. There was enough pieces that they could get creative and design them how they wanted.

cute craft, allow extra time
I did this with a 3rd grade class. Ahead of time, I hot glued the string and the wrist band to the foam. I mixed the glue & water, not hard. The kids did the decoupage with the tissue paper. There was more than enough provided. They enjoyed this and it came out cute. I hot glued the front to the back. It's ideal if they can dry over night before putting the front and the back together. The end result is a cute mitten, but it did involve some prep work. I also had to punch out the insides of the foam mitten. I saved them and have 24 foam mitten shapes for another craft.

I hate foam but cute results
Be careful punching out the middle of the mittens and have scissors handy to clip any snags...DO NOT let the kids do it...they rip easily! I suggest they decorate and dry and that night you piece together/glue personally. The end results are pretty for the 3, 4s and 7 year olds I did this with, as well as my 2 attempts! I think modge podge makes the best results over regular glue though.

BAD
This is not at all what I was expecting, the mittens are so fragile, the paper is thin eand it's not do great looking! Waist of money for sure

More difficult than I planned
I wanted to use this with Kindergarten students. I thought that the hardest part for 5 year olds would be to glue the two mittens together. It would have been nice to know that you have to mix glue and water together to paint on top of the small pieces of tissue paper. I decided to not even attempt this with Kindergarten kids. I donated it to an older classroom.
