Great for projects
While I saw many people didn't like these, I must say we used them for a project and they were just fine for our purpose and the price was right. At a co-op we did a project re creating the Nile and the kids used these to make animal groups around it. We had planted grass within the dirt (all in one of the large aluminum disposable pans) and it grew up around everything and looked fabulous! For projects such as this (and there are many) these 'mini' - and they are mini - animals were great. All the animals and 'trees' we used were from OT - the kids all had a blast! Used it as a Story of the World project.

Disappointed
I'm sad to say that I'm terribly disappointed in these erasers. I knew they'd be small, so it wasn't the size that disappointed me, but the inability to really decifer between the animals. I could tell there was a lion, zebra and penguin, but that was about it. Plus the ones I did know what they were, weren't all that recoginizable to the kids. You get what you pay for, but these definetly need to be improved upon.

When they say "mini"......they mean MINI. These are very small.

Just what I needed for sorting exercise
I bought these to use in my elementary school library to allow the children practice at sorting. I tell them that I sort the books and arrange them on the shelves by certain criteria. They have to sort the objects I give them by their own predetermined criteria. Have used Halloween candy in the past but that was EXPENSIVE by the time 300 kids used it to sort and eat! These little animals are not all that easy to identify but will work well for my sorting activity when combined with sports ball beads, mini insects erasers, etc. I wish there were other varieties of these little erasers...amphibians, reptiles, dinosaurs, ocean life, mammals! Sorting these little erasers will be as fun, just not as tasty!
