Compass Paracord Bracelet Craft Kit - Makes 12

We used these for a Cub Scout Pack family camp this past weekend. The items were great and all of the kids loved them. The trickiest part for me, as the event planner was to create a better set of instructions. Based on other reviews I knew they were problematic. While the directions can be followed by someone who has done other paracord projects, I knew 95% of our scouting families had never seen anything like this. Plan ahead, get it early, try a few things out and create a better set of instructions to print out. The kits are really fun for the kids when they can be successful! (FYI- using a soldering iron or hot knife to melt ends together will result in a much better finish than other methods. (I've attached images of a paracord compass bracelet my son made using different colors of paracord than what is in the kit. The colors show the weave and end finish we used better than the camouflage colors did. The buckle on the blue and yellow bracelet is also different than what is in the kit. The buckle is one of the paracord bracelet buckles sold separately. They are a bit smaller as you can see in the comparison picture and worked best for some of our smaller campers. All supplies pictured were bought here on Oriental Trading and worked great for our Pack's family camp craft time! )

I bought this for a cub scout project. There are three BIG shortcomings. (1) Contents are not accurately depicted. (2) one long piece of paracord should have been included, not two and, as others have mentioned, (3) the directions are AWFUL. CONTENTS: The contents are not listed accurately. The description says, "Includes three 41" nylon paracords". The picture shows two cords two cords are actually included. The lengths are 30" and 62". As for quality, one of the clasps did not hold, but an extra was included. The compasses don't work well, but I did not expect much. PARACORD LENGTHS: Every set of directions on making these I've found uses ONE length of cord. Not only are two lengths unnecessary, it makes finishing very messy. No reason to have four cut ends instead of two. There is NO benefit for two lengths. DIRECTIONS: They are awful. They show you how to tie the knots in the middle. Not how to start OR finish. Really awful. I've been so pleased with other purchases. This was a real let down.

I took a chance on this purchase because OTC responded to to bad reviews saying the directions would be improved. They were not. Just received them and the plan was to take them on a short mission in Eastern Europe. I cannot figure it out at all and the videos I’ve seen do not assemble them the same way. Looking for help or I’ll be leaving these at home.

To many missing parts even with extra parts supplied still had b parts missing. Some bags had 2 clasps and no compass and really compasses were reason for buying as they were symbols for completing hike
