Rated 5 out of 5 by from Magical! The Daisy Scouts had a great time with these. They thought they had "magical pens".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun for the whole family To get the Hanukkah celebration started we each, from just 2 to just 80 got a dreidel to decorate and then hang on the windows. We had a ball doing the activity and showing off our creativity. How often can you find an activity that all can participate in and enjoy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Scratch off color These are cute for very young kids maybe 2-4. They are a quick and non messy craft that only takes a few minutes and can go home with the child - no drying time required. They do come with a sharp scratch stick. I'll replace those with Popsicle sticks or the end of a spoon.

Questions & Answers

Is this craft age appropriate for grades 2-6?

We are studying various groups of people in a summer program in the community, exposing the young kids to other cultures. Would this be a good craft for our group? Grades Pre- Kgn - 6TH grades. We will have a visitor from a Jewish Synagogue that will explain the purpose of the dreidel.

All the children in our family (age just 2 to almost 8) enjoyed decorating the dreidels. Make sure the pointed sticks are collected afterwards. We hung the dreidels up individually with tape but you could put string in the holes and wear them as necklaces or string them together and hang as a garland. Perhaps you should discuss with your visiting instructor the craft and ask him to emphasize what the dreidel means to us and how necessity made it come about. It's not only about freedom of religion but also freedom of learning.
