Celebrate the 100th day of school by having your students create a 100 year old portrait of themselves! Use torn pieces of cardstock to give the appearance of wrinkled skin. These 100th day self portraits make a great conversation piece about the days versus years.
Ask your students to imagine how they will look at 100 years of age?
Choose a color of construction paper for the background. Using a pencil, lightly trace a circle for the head. Trace a neck from the bottom of the head to the bottom of the paper. Make sure to draw your head about 2 ½” down from the top of your paper. The kids can also decorate their portrait background if they like. Tear small pieces of skin tone cardstock. Glue the torn pieces, layering them to fill in the head and neck you lightly outlined. Allow to dry.
Cut a half oval shape out of colored cardstock for the body. Glue the oval half, rounded side at the top to the neck.
Grab some gray or white large pom poms for the hair. Cut each large pom pom in half. Spread Elmer’s glue at the top of the head where you want to place your hair. Gently break apart the cut in half pom pom and press into the Elmer’s glue.
Embellish the clothing with self adhesive pearls. The women can have pearl buttons on their blouse or a pearl necklace. The boys can make a tie to glue into their shirts!
Glue on the googly eyes. For the women you can add pretty jewel earrings!
