Create an engaging bridal shower focal point, and a wearable treat for the entire bridal party by creating your own embellished wide brim hats and chinoiserie fans backdrop. Spring colors and blue and white chinoiserie pattern blend beautifully against a simple background of white sheer curtains, to create a stunning backdrop for a classically beautiful chinoiserie themed bridal shower.
Cut a length of navy blue and white satin ribbon to wrap around the crown of a wide brimmed straw bridal party hats. The goal is to completely cover the pink ribbon that comes on the hat. If a little peeks out, that't okay. It can be corrected in a future step. Use hot glue to adhere the ribbon to the hat, and allow it to set well before proceeding to the next step.
Using light pink, lime green and orange yarn poms, adhere clusters of poms to the ribbon and the hat, as shown. I like to leave about three to four inches between each cluster, and use a variety of sizes of poms for visual interest.
Hang sheer white curtains or white draping fabric from a freestanding backdrop structure. Using thin twine, hang the yarn pom embellished, wide brimmed bridal party hats evenly in a horizontal line, attaching securely to the top of the frame. Hang several patterned chinoiserie fans at different heights. For this look, two fans were hung at different heights between hats, and on the outside corners of the backdrop.
