These acorn cookies are so simple to make and look just like acorns that you would gather from the forest in fall. Acorn cookies are made with chocolate kiss candies and vanilla wafer cookies, and make a lovely addition to a Woodland Themed Kids' Thanksgiving Table.
- 48 unwrapped Hershey Kisses with Almonds (or plain)
- 48 Miniature Vanilla Wafer Cookies
- 1/2 Cup Chocolate Icing
- 48 Regular-Sized Chocolate Chips
Begin by snipping the tip off of your icing bag. Apply icing to the underside of a vanilla wafer cookie with chocolate icing. Just a dot, not a lot! Be sure to stay in the center of the cookie to avoid icing oozing out from the sides in future steps.
Add a Hershey Kiss with Almonds directly onto the icing. The icing will adhere the chocolate candy to the cookie.
Next, add a small bead of icing to the top of the cookie, and place a chocolate chip into the icing, the same way you did with the Hershey Kiss.
Place your finished acorn cookie on a white tiered cupcake display with other woodland treats, like cheeses made to look like lady bugs, cupcakes with Woodland Toppers, and even donut holes created to look like tiny hedgehogs.
