When I was little, my friends and I loved to build forts out of almost anything we could find; sofa cushions, boxes, or even bedsheets. This cute party is a throwback to those carefree times, and incorporates trendy teepees and tribal inspiration. With a fun palette of hot pink, turquoise, white and gold, these beautiful design elements have come together with some creative crafting, resulting in a darling party, with an irresistable hideout for the birthday girl!
Planning Your Party Decor Bright colors of turquoise and hot pink were selected for this look; and a variety of bohemian and tribal-inspired props were used to emphasize the theme, including a classic guitar overflowing with flowers, a teepee made from bamboo poles and vintage lace tablecloths, comfy throw pillows and a decadent, fluffy sheepskin rug for the floor of the hideout. The table for our birthday girl and her friends is set with real dishes in a lovely shade of aqua that were sourced in my own kitchen, and mini mason jars for drinking berry punch. Learn to make our triangle paper backdrop here! Creating a focal point We created a simple, but pretty backdrop using small triangular favor boxes in shades of turquoise, hot pink and gold. It was simple to make, and takes just a few supplies. We also created lovely dreamcatchers using circular metal frames and endless strips of brightly colored lace ribbon and grosgrain ribbon, adding a few fluffy feathers in, for good measure. Our teepee, trailing with vintage floral tablecloths, silk flowers, feathers and greenery, is accented for the party with brighly colored tissue tassel garland. A Treat to Eat We made up a batch of Fruity Arrows, using fresh fruit skewered on bamboo cocktail forks. We decorated the ends with hand cut cardstock, so that they would resemble real arrows; and of course, kept to our color palette of hot pink, turquoise and gold. Adding floral elements It's one of my party philosophies to always have a live (or faux-live) element in the design. Flowers are my very favorite way to add this to a party look. For this party, beautiful silk blooms were added to the top of our teepee with some very fetching feathers and greenery, as well as to the center of our guitar prop. They really turn up the sophistication on this whimsical party. Signs An adorable teepee-shaped sign, reading "If you need me, I'll be in my teepee", is leaned just outside the enchanting structure. Just seat your party guests inside, and this becomes a fantastic photo background for the children! Party FavorsWe love to greet our guests at the table with a small favor to start the fun. For our teepee party, we created a cute printable, and attached it to cellophane bags filled with candy corn; or, in this case, "Native Corn", as a cute play on the theme. You can download our printable for these party favors by clicking here.Getting Dressed We created darling tribal-inspired headpieces for the children, and placed one at each table setting. The glittering headbands and fluffy white feathers make this the perfect accessory for our teepee party. They're designed to tie in the back, so it's easy to get a custom fit for each child.Unique details Tree trunks in the center of the table are a way to add natural texture that plays on this party theme very well. Handmade dreamcatchers, suspended from a tree in the center of the backyard, flow gently in the breeze, and lend a very dreamy mood to the event, indeed. Our birthday girl loved her party, and so did the rest of her tribe!
