Bring all the colors of the season to your Christmas tree with these DIY Paper Straw Ornaments. A great addition to your boho holiday décor, these playful DIY ornaments feature colorful striped straws, yarn pom-poms and more. The holiday season may be a tad bit chilly, but ornaments this whimsical are sure to heat things up wherever they are hung!
To create the paper straw ornaments, measure and find the middle of the paper straws. Cut the paper straws in half. You will need 9 paper straw halves per ornament.
Begin assembling the ornaments by threading three cut paper straws onto a length of floral wire. Bend the wire into a triangle shape and twist the wire together to hold into place. Add on the remaining paper straws and bend into shape making sure to twist the end to hold the wire together.
Next, we made an easy tassel by cutting a small piece of yarn and taping it to the outside edge of a small piece of cardboard. Wrap a second length of yarn around the cardboard. Remove the tape and tie the small piece of yarn around the wrapped yarn. Cut the yarn off of the cardboard and tie a small piece of yarn around the entire top of the tassel.
Use a tiny drop of hot glue to lightly secure Round Unfinished Wood Beads to a Bamboo Skewer.
Paint the beads with a flat-bristled paintbrush and acrylic paint. Once the beads are dry, remove the beads from the skewer.
Glue the yarn tassel, painted wood beads and other embellishments to the ornament using hot glue. Finish the ornament with a jute cording hanger. These paper straw ornaments make the perfect addition to your bright boho tree or as a package tie-on.
