Transform any space into a little slice of camp with a bit of imagination and just a few supplies. I wanted my reading corner to reflect our school wide camping theme, yet still blend with the bold look of our classroom. I started by transforming my plain white walls by adding some weathered wood paper. It stapled easily into my wall and really gave it a warmer look. Just use scissors to trim around any existing obstacles or bulletin boards.
I used black and white polka dotted paper to cover my small bulletin board. I love to layer my borders, it really makes your boards pop and gives them a unique look. For this board I used a small black and white polka dot and a woodland tree border. I finished off the top of the board by adding some green tissue fans as well as some chevron fans too. To adhere to the board I staple the fans in clusters of 3 or 4. I always gently staple the edges together to secure them then staple directly onto my board. This helps to give them some added support so they don't get floppy and fall down. To complete the look I added some fun camp themed reading posters to offer my little campers some reading inspiration as they pick their favorite selections.To help my little readers get lost in their books I created a few spaces for them to get cozy. A bold soft rug helps to identify the space and gives them a soft spot to read. My student's love curling up by the campfire with a book. The canvas teepee offers some separation as well. Just add some colorful pillows and you have a quiet and cozy spot that your students will love! When creating your reading corner be on the lookout for unwanted or old furniture pieces. With a little spray paint and colorful fabric an old eyesore can be good as new.I can't wait to hear about all of the adventures my students go on while curled up reading their favorite books!
