Have you been thinking about what decorations to use in your classroom this year? I am a huge fan of the brights and chalkboard combination! Each year, I always like to change my decor, but stick to the same color combinations. I honestly am not a huge safari fan alone, but the illustrations in a chalkboard style are very adorable and easily mixed in with materials I previously had.
Due to the layout of my new classroom, my reading nook is a little more open than normal! The Neon Classroom Storage Tubs really makes the reading area pop and matches the Chalkboard Safari Set perfectly. The calendar in this set is a little larger than I am used to and I was very excited for that. The focus of my classroom is in the back of the room, so I decided to place my calendar there, too. The calendar can still easily be seen from the front of the classroom. To add a little extra touch, I added in the sayings, "Have Fun" and "Have Courage" from the Chalkboard Safari Animal Bulletin Board Set. I love that this calendar includes holidays and special event cards in the same adorable colors. I can not wait to have my own students sitting in this adorable reading area. The pillows are very soft and comfortable! I found myself sitting on the pillows a few times as I was organizing the library. And better yet, the covers can be removed to be washed. A teacher's dream! Throughout my classroom, I incorporated black, lime green, yellow, pink, teal, and white. I really wanted a mixture of colors to play off of the chalkboard safari set. Each year, I take a lot of time to build classroom community. I teach in an extremely high poverty area and making sure each student feels loved is a huge part of my daily routine. I made the focus of the main wall in my classroom to be for that exact reason! For an added touch, I mixed in polka dot fans and black poms. Setting up a classroom is a lot of work and can be extremely stressful. I love that fact that I could get most of the items I needed right from Oriental Trading.
