Chinoiserie is one of the hottest trends in weddings this season and can be seen popping up in centerpiece decor, cakes, and even on bridesmaids dresses. Created in the 17th century, Chinoiserie is an elegant blue and white pattern of florals or Chinese scenes. Chinoiserie is often seen in home decor but with it's preppy, polished look it is no wonder it is spreading to weddings! For this Chinoiserie inspired wedding I used two traditional blue and white patterns but you could commission a designer to create a custom Chinoiserie pattern for your big day. This wedding inspiration includes steps on how to make your own Chinoiserie place cards to create the ultimate preppy Chinoiserie wedding.
To create this Chinoiserie wedding I chose a blue and white color palette to represent the traditional Chinese pattern. I used a white tablecloth and blue tulle as a runner. Each place setting received a white dinner plate with silver trim and a navy dessert plate.DIY Chinoiserie place cards added a fun pop of pattern to each place setting. I also created Chinoiserie plates by adding pattern to the underside of clear dessert plates. To complete the place settings each navy napkin was wrapped with Chinoiserie pattern. Napkin wraps are so easy to create and give an elegant look to place settings. Simply print Chinoiserie pattern onto cardstock, cut in strips and wrap around silverware securing with tape.No wedding is complete without a favor and these custom navy treat bags were the perfect way to display candied pecans. Candied pecans are such an easy recipe to make in bulk and wedding guests always enjoy gifts that can be eaten! Clear treat boxes filled with Hershey Kisses and a white cake were also banded with Chinoiserie pattern.Tall pillars wrapped in Chinoiserie pattern lined the center of the table along with white hobnail votives.As long as you stick with the same color palette you can easily incorporate different Chinoiserie patterns for a stylish look. Here you can see the two different Chinoiserie patterns I used. One was a traditional Chinese pattern and the other a floral pattern.Chinoiserie is such a beautiful pattern that it easily adds an elegant touch to wedding decor. With so many fun ways to incorporate this classic pattern it's no wonder it's one of weddings hottest trends!
