This easy recipe makes for some pretty yummy chocolate cake donuts. You have to try the homemade glaze too! Try using semi-sweet chocolate for a more decadent taste, and milk chocolate for a sweeter donut. Just add festive Valentine sprinkles for a yummy LOVE day treat! We made these for our Family Valentine Making Party…and they were a huge hit.
- One Box Chocolate Cake Mix
- 1 Cup Water-1/4 C. Vegetable Oil
- 1 EggChocolate Glaze Ingredients:
- 1/2 C. Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- 1 C. Powdered Sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. Vanilla Extract
- 2 T. Butter
- 4-5 T. Milk
Mix together cake mix, water, oil and egg. Mix on medium speed for 2 minutes.
Add the batter to a large gallon-sized bag.
Cut the corner of the bag and pipe the mix into your greased donut baking pan.
Bake at 350 Degrees for 8-10 minutes.
Flip the pan over and allow the heart shaped donuts to cool for 5 minutes. While baking you can make the chocolate glaze. To make the glaze, heat the butter and chocolate in a mini sauce pan over low-med heat until melted.
Whisk in powdered sugar, vanilla and milk. Mix Well. If it is too thick, add a bit more milk.
Dip each donut in the glaze on one side.
Turn over and lay on a cooling rack. Add sprinkles right away before the glaze dries.
