"What is it? Why, it's a major award!" There's no better way to describe the glorious leg lamp that Ralphie's dad wins in the classic holiday movie, A Christmas Story. And now you can make your very own Leg Lamp Votive Candle Holder! Transform a wine glass into a glowing masterpiece that will have all your guests saying "It's indescribably beautiful! It reminds me of the Fourth of July!" See how we displayed this fun DIY project in our A Christmas Story Party.
Use scissors to cut the leg lamp shape from an A Christmas Story™ Tableware Kit paper cup.
Trace and cut out the leg lamp shape onto a piece of Gold Cardstock. Next, use a thin, Black Sharpie Marker to create and color the fishnet stockings, garter and high heel.
Use 2 small Glue Dots to attach the leg to the stem of a Clear Plastic Wine Glass and set aside.
Wrap a piece of ivory or Gold Cardstock around the Wine Glass so you're able to trace both the lip of the glass and base of the glass where it meets the top of the stem. This will give you the desired shape for the lampshade. Once traced, cut out the shape.
Use the cardstock lampshade as a template and cut a piece of Black Tissue Paper in the same manner.
Use a piece of thin Washi Tape to attach the Black Tissue Paper to the edge of the cardstock lampshade. Cut tiny slits into the Tissue Paper to create a fabulous fringe.
Use black Washi Tape to add the delicate details of the lampshade.
Wrap the edges of the cardstock so they meet to make the lampshade shape. Attach both sides together with Hot Glue. Slide the lampshade over the bowl of your Wine Glass. Next, place a Battery-Operated Tea Light Candle in the bowl of the Wine Glass.
Use your DIY Leg Lamp Votive Candle Holders as a glorious piece of decor at your A Christmas Story Partyand enjoy your major award!
