This holiday season, take the hustle and bustle out of your gift giving without sacrificing style. Your Christmas presents will look fabulous with these vintage -inspired clothespin gift clips. They are so fast and easy to make that you’ll have plenty of time for all of your other holiday festivities.
Apply silver, gold glitter washi tape or chalkboard washi tape to the top of a wooden clothespin. It’s best to line up one edge of the washi tape to one edge of the wood clothespin. Just tear the excess tape away at the end of the clothespin.
Use an X-acto knife to cut the excess washi tape off the side of the clothespin. Make sure to protect your work surface with a cutting mat.
When using the chalkboard washi tape, be sure to prime it. This will not only ensure that you can re-use the chalkboard without ghosting (seeing what you previously wrote even after erasing) but it also makes the plain black chalkboard washi tape look more like a real vintage chalkboard. Nice and dusty! To prime the chalkboard washi tape, simply rub chalk all over the tape and use a rag or paper towel to rub it off.
Use a hot glue gun to adhere the mini cream sisal trees, green sisal trees, wreaths or santa hats onto the clip end of the clothespins. Gluing at the clip let’s you still be able to open and close the clothespins without the little embellishment getting in the way.
If you used chalkboard washi tape, use a chalk marker to write a short holiday message or a person’s name on the clothespin.
Now the only thing left to do is clip them onto your holiday gift packages. Gifts look so festive wrapped in kraft paper and baker’s twine. Add a chalkboard clip adorned with a mini holiday wreath and your gift is complete. Try wrapping your package in silver and white striped gift wrap, white twill ribbon and top with a glittered clip. Add a cute, mini sisal tree to the clip for a fun vintage Christmas vibe. Happy wrapping!
