My 4 year-old’s room seems to be an ever-evolving design project. Her interests change daily, and she and I enjoy “re-decorating” her room accordingly. She LOVES bright pink, if you couldn’t already tell from her bright pink painted vintage bed. Mini loves to make her own art so when I came up with the idea to create a craft project using brightly colored feathers, I knew she’d be on board. We decided on this fun feather swag.
Plug in your glue gun while you gather your supplies. After sorting the feathers by color and selecting your palette, lay one of your pieces of ribbon face down in your work space. Once the glue gun is warm, begin applying little beads of glue to the tip of each feather carefully pressing the feather to the back of the ribbon. Start in the center and work your way out on either side.
Fill out the feathers until you achieve your desired density.
Repeat the above steps for a second garland using two tones of blue feathers. Complete the first layer and begin gluing a second layer to the back of the first layer of feathers. Don’t worry if it looks a bit messy, once it’s cleaned up and flipped around so this side is facing the wall, it will be perfect!
Complete the third garland using white and yellow layers of feathers. Gather the three garlands together holding the ribbons aligned one on top of the other. Using an upholstery tack, secure the garland to the wall.
Finally, admire your new feather wall art!
