We are crafting with Mason jars for June’s Supply of the Month Challenge! Isn’t it amazing how these pint jars can be used for so many things other than canning? I love Mason jar crafts and decided to use my jars to create these colorful tissue paper covered lanterns to add a pretty glow to our patio this summer. This pre-cut tissue paper confetti makes this project so easy – and simple enough for your kids to make along with you! Add a votive candle and you have a pretty lantern. I hope you try these out, and don’t miss the other creative ways to use Mason jars in this month’s craft challenge!
Use a foam brush to add a layer of Mod Podge® to one side of the Mason jar.
Press confetti onto the Mod Podge®, smoothing down with your finger. I added confetti in different directions and overlapped some pieces. To make your own confetti use Bright Tissue Paper Squares and cut to 3/4 in. x 2in. rectangular pieces.
Cover with another layer of Mod Podge® to seal the confetti, and then repeat the process on another side of the jar.
You can try a variety of designs with your confetti. For this lantern, I added them in stacked rows.
Add a votive candle. You can add a battery-operated votive instead if you like.
