I love making fun things to hang on the wall and in summertime it’s all about Suncatcher Garlands. Suncatcher Garlands are an easy art project for kids and adults. They’re a great art project to do together actually.

Cut a piece of clear contact paper about 6×12 (doesn’t have to be exact.) Place it sticky side up on the table. Stick lots of tissue paper shapes on the contact paper. You could also make a design of tissue paper shapes on the table and then lay the sticky side on top of the design to pick up the tissue paper shapes. My girls preferred this technique. Either way works. You may want to tape the contact paper to the table if you are going to place the tissue paper on top.

Fold the contact paper together like a book, sticky side to sticky side. Trim the edges if any tissue paper is sticking out.

Cut strips of your design about 1″ apart and then cut those long strips in half. Each piece will be about 1″ by 3 or 4″.

Punch two holes in each small strip, one towards the top and one towards the bottom, in the center.

Weave the clear string in and out of the holes leaving a little room between each strip. Keep weaving until you have at least a foot or two of garland. You can do the whole process over again if you want to make it longer, which we did. We did it three times and my girls loved it so much.
