It's time for summer fun activities! If you're like me, you are looking for fun and EASY ways to entertain your kids this summer. Our Digging for Dollars activity is perfect for birthday parties, nautical themed baby showers, or just a fun summer activity to keep the kids from getting bored. This activity only requires a few supplies and it can be played over and over again! Modify it to fit your party needs. Hint: You could also bury other items in the sand too. Download and print out our Free Digging for Dollars Label. I recommend printing this on full sheet glossy label stock or another adhesive sticker stock. Cut them our with scissors or a paper cutter. Peel and place one on each of the Mini DIY Sand Buckets.
The nice thing about this activity is that you can customize it to fit you party colors. Our Nautical Girls Birthday Party featured shades of pink, mint, gold, and navy and we selected a few colors that coordinated. Pink one color, or several. It’s totally up to you.
Grab the Mini DIY Sand Buckets and fill them approximately 3/4 full of your choice of sand.
Take a Sharpie Marker and make a mark on the back of one of your Sand Dollars in a Basket. This will be the “winning” sand dollar.
Add approximately 5 Sand Dollars to each Sand Bucket and bury them in the sand.
Depending on the kids ages, set a timer for 20-30 seconds and let the kids “dig for dollars.” They can use their hands or mini shovel. Whoever finds the “winning” sand dollar gets a prize.
This is a super fun activity. The kids can play it over and over again. Please note, that the Sand Dollars are pretty fragile, so they can get damaged if the kids are using their shovels.
